Barsus Crisis

Prelude: Operation Ketsana

Following the combined efforts of the United Provinces of Connorianople, the Confederation of Augustinian, the Empire of JVP and the Republics of Serderistan and Mindara, the Imperial Barsusian Navy and Air Force was neutralized. Though despite this major victory among allied powers, the land war along the mountains of Pacha Pulai ground to a halt as the majority of UPC and JVP forces were preoccupied in other parts of the world following the Oil Wars.

Pacha Pulai Campaign Overview
As the Empire of Barsus shared land borders with the Republic of Mindara and JVP's Vedoric territories, allied forces deemed it a necessity to strike Barsus from the pre-established foothold. With the success of Ketsana, Allied Forces had hoped to neutralize Barsus' ability to wage war but that was not the case as the vast majority of the Barsus Imperial Army was still in their Muhr homeland.

War found its way to the forests and mountains of Pacha Pulai with Mindaran, with technical advisors and combatants from Serderistan, and Vedoric ground troops engaged with the Barsus Imperial Army (BIA). To the dismay of allied command, more ground forces could not be brought in to make a decisive move against the BIA forces. JVP Forces were tied down fighting Namijistan in Aels, many UPC forces were still in the Middle East after the conclusion of the Oil Wars and many Serderistan's forces were on the other side of the world.

To mitigate the immediate lack of troops, increased involvement from Confederation of Augustinian was requested, as the vast majority of its Armed Forces were located in the Muhr region and not committed to any other theater.

JVP also requested assistance from its Tyrian allies through it's colony in Lamaria, though it needed time to mobilize its forces.

The Confederation Acts
While the Confederation of Augustinian kept itself isolated from the events of the world, news of the Empire of Barsus' involvement during the Oil Wars troubled the Confederate Council. Barsus was by no means a minor power and due to its sheer size would potentially threaten Confederation interests in the region. While relatively limited involvement occurred during Operation Ketsana with the deployment of two Classis Carrier Groups (Constantinia and Federation) and several Aeris Air Wings, it would not be until the slog of the Pacha Pulai Campaign that more involvement from the Confoederatio Armatis would take place where, then, Arconsular Christoforo Castra would authorize the deployment of additional ground and air units to support coalition forces.

The Epitelarchii (Armatis High Command) put in motion a plan to open up another front to ease pressure of the Pacha Pulai front.

Operation Ave Maria

In order to relieve pressure from allied forces fighting in the Pacha Pulai region, the Epitelarchii put in motion a plan to open up another front. The target was the port city of Nekudah'Talia in the Joispau Satrapy to the south. It was believed that with the rapid capture of the city, resistance from Imperial Guard units would be minimal and it would be open country towards the capital.

Planning Stages
The Epitelarchii assigned the forward-deployed I Thema to take part in Operation Ave Maria. I Classiares, supported by the 27 Tagma Comes, would be tasked to take the port city of Nekudah'Talia to pave the way for the rest of I Thema. To ensure the success of the operation, ARC units of the Speculatores and Praeventores were deployed in the northern part of the Joispau satrapy to conduct raiding and sabotage strikes to hamper Barsus Imperial Guard operations along with air and naval strikes on key targets.
