Operation Snap Dragon Empty Operation Snap Dragon

Dating as far back as the early 1930s, Ternos has long flirted with, if not full on adapted it's own brand of Communism.

Known locally as Suara Rakyat, the Ternesian confederation of tribes sought a polar opposite answer to what many saw as the decaying decadence of their southern Rhamosian neighbors and other monarchies of the time. This moral answer appealed to staunchly conservative tribal elements and combined with the effects of the depression allowed for the consolidation of the tribes into a unified state the had the ability to rebuff the advances of its predatory rivals.

At least that was the sought for solution.

The 1936 border clashes that would eventually become the Ternos-Rhamosian War, exposed the fundamental shortcomings of both the Ternosian state and its outdated military.

The conflict was viewed as a national embarrassment that left deep scars on the collective psyche of the general public that was only furthered by the intervention of the League of Nations, whose political pressure forced Rhamos to return most of its post conflict gains.

This conflict and it's results, like most others of the time, fueled the catalyst for nationalism and revanchist figures to fill the void. Throughout the years of the Cold War many a figure would seize the helm of the nation and attempt their own version of returning Ternos to its perceived greatness with varying degrees of success and ultimately a modicum of failure. Never quite getting the formula right it seemed, that is until the 1990s.

The dynastic succession of power in the country had finally fallen to a new son, Pandak Panay and his promises of a new peaceful approach to regaining dominance on the Surenian Subcontinent.

Ternos, being one of the few countries to keep out of the myriad of global conflicts sweeping the world stage, was in a key position to reap the vacuum in the global economy left by the collapse of nations such as the GNE, Barsus, and Najimistan.

Through a decade of economic expansion Panay was able to build up Ternos and its military, becoming a key trading partner with nations such as Russia and the new Syrian Government that allowed them to circumvent the economic backlash to their aggressive foreign policies in exchange for cheap military hardware.
